Held at Calke Abbey, the event proved to be a huge challenge for the National Trust as the entire grounds and riding school were transformed. The riding school was identified as the perfect location for plenary sessions, as it provided both the space and versatility to ensure the conference become part festival.
During the welcome address the delegates were seated informally and were given a festival style lanyard and plastic wallet with the agenda detailing the line up for the two days. A site map was also provided, the design of which reflected the free roaming nature of the event, giving delegates the chance to choose which breakout session they wished to attend.
The evening entertainment matched the festival theme with a UK skiffle-pop band playing songs through the ages to suit the whole crowd.
