The great big Cascade review of 2017
It’s that time of year again - we’ve danced ourselves silly at the office Christmas party, shouted ourselves hoarse during the fiercely competitive annual fussball tournament and there are just ‘those’ chocolates left in the bottom of the tub. There’s now only one thing left to do before we welcome in 2018…
It’s the great big Cascade review of 2017!
We started the year beautifully by partnering with L’Oreal in producing their annual staff conference in London with the aim of connecting and engaging with staff. A stunning set and pacey agenda ensured the day was city chic from start to end.
Moving on to more rural surroundings to film content for the Chatsworth House estate, our team saw their eyelashes freeze as the weather set in during filming in the beautifully bleak winter months…never has a cup of hot soup been more welcome!
It was ‘all-aboard’ come Spring as we welcomed a number of VIPs to an exclusive dining experience on board the privately chartered Belmond British Pullman steam train, followed by a cooking experience with Raymond Blanc at Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons… la vie est belle!
On the run up to our 21st birthday celebrations in June we underwent a full makeover by re-branding to keep us fresh in an ever-changing and competitive industry. This involved a huge effort from the whole of the team as every item from letterhead to livery was updated to our bold new brand.
A long, hot summer followed with a number of large scale events including the coordination of a festival for 200 National Trust volunteer managers featuring seminars and workshops over a number of different locations, the build and management of a complex tipi structure for a private client event including the coordination of guests and of course the annual Iceland Foods Christmas in July event which you can read about here. The season culminated in a sizzling 40th birthday fiesta in the Balearics as we hosted a weekend away at a private residence in Mallorca managing all travel, accommodation, dining and entertainment requirements.
September saw our team oversee a number of plant-powered sampling days for Alpro and a number of conferences featuring key speakers from the likes of Google who identified key future tech trends. The Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation 25th anniversary Golf event proved to be spectacular with a surprise performance from All Saints, and raised over £460,000 for Alzheimer’s Research.
More large-scale conferences for over 1,000 delegates followed in October with much of the content produced in-house by Cascade, the agenda featured complex dine-around lunch sessions and a breath-taking aerial and pyrotechnical evening act followed.
Of course all work and no play makes the Cascade team very dull indeed so despite our hectic schedules we still manged to pack in some events of our own over the course of the year with work socials to Junk Yard Golf and the Crystal Maze live experience.
Then before we knew it, it was Christmas party season! The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of canapes and cocktails - beginning with a marquee rigged inside a warehouse for an on-site staff Christmas shindig for 600 utilising a traditional Victorian theme and ending with a cool urban Christmas for the young marketing agency, Dentsu Aegis, in a popular central Manchester bar complete with 90’s music and ping pong tables.
And now it’s time to break for our own Cascade Christmases with team members visiting friends and family across the UK and some even jetting off to Iceland to enjoy the holidays! We’ll be back in the office on Tuesday 2nd January (emergency hotels cover is in place over the break).
