Euro 2016 #comeoniceland

Last week saw the minnows of the Iceland football team slay England before themselves being dispatched by France in the Euro quarter-finals.

During the England game, social media was awash with stories connected with Iceland Foods, the supermarket - and the Iceland Foods social media team were quick-witted enough to make the most of the opportunity.

For the France v Iceland game, they wanted show their support for the football team, so they decided to create their own crowd - over 200 people from head office, along with founder and other executive directors - to chant in tribute to their viking namesakes.

The idea was suggested by the Iceland social team on Wednesday afternoon, filmed by Cascade on Thursday afternoon and ready to share on Friday afternoon. By the end of the game on Sunday evening, the video had been viewed tens of thousands of times on Facebook and Twitter. It was shared by the Iceland team players, by the Icelandic FA and by local and national press.
