Beverley Ashworth - Freelance Video Director

When did you first join Cascade Productions?

I’ve been working with Team Wight in its various incarnations since 1994… (No doubt we’ll celebrate our 20th anniversary!)

What is your job and what does it entail?

My Cascade hat rack contains items labelled producer, director, (script)writer, voice-over artist, speaker trainer, stylist, Propfinder General and Provider of Yellowness and Jazz Hands…

What’s one thing about your job that people don’t know?

That it’s completely made up… OK serious answer – The amount of time I spend being transported around the country in a black van.  Or… The amount of busking, blagging and invention involved.

What’s the best part of working at Cascade?

The down to earth attitude (polite description), team spirit and lack of hierarchy .

What’s the best part of your job?

Being trusted to just get on with it - and having the freedom to experiment and follow my imagination/instincts where appropriate.

What’s the most challenging part of your job?

Keeping a straight face.

Name one of the most memorable events you’ve been on and why? (if this applies)

Spending 3 weeks in Dubai at the Meydan complex helping to create a ‘spectacular’ performance to complement the Dubai World Cup. (FYI there was a massive sandstorm on the day which prevented our trio of 40ft high horses’ heads parading – for 3 hours! #thinkingonyourfeet)

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?

They (the audience/client) never knows what they didn’t get - (which I gave to myself as reassurance) - and “Give credit and take responsibility”.

Describe the event industry in three words.

Meet. Your. Objectives.

If you could swap jobs with anyone on the team for one day who would it be and why?

Alan- I love the challenge of a Wight Knuckle Ride!

If you could work on any event in the world what would it be and why?

A fantastic music festival - Coachella or Lollapalooza or even Glastonbury if the line up was right…(i.e. no rap or hip hop).
